Rachel Butler
BBC
Producer
Producer Director Rachel Butler started her career with the BBC in Australia in 2010, initially as a diver & researcher. The BBC brought Rachel back to the UK a year later and she has since specialised in the underwater ‘blue chip’ series – ‘Great Barrier Reef’, ‘Shark’ and more recently, ‘Blue Planet II’ & the IMAX release ‘Oceans: our Blue Planet.’
Rachel spent over 600 hours underwater for Blue Planet 2 and directed many of the memorable sequences for the series including the tool using tuskfish, open ocean ‘boiling sea’, Galapagos sea lions hunting tuna, and sex changing Kobudai.
Originally from Guernsey and with a fascination for the oceans since a young age, Rachel has also worked as a marine biologist and dive instructor and is at her happiest when on or in the water.
